About Johnstone
Johnstone is a town in Renfrewshire in the central lowlands of Scotland. The town lies 3 miles west of neighbouring Paisley, 12 miles north of Kilwinning and is at the western edge of the Greater Glasgow Urban Area. The town was originally formed through the culmination of the mills powered by the Black Cart Water.
With historical sights such as Johnstone Town Hall, History Museum and 16th Century Johnstone Castle, the town is popular with tourists and locals. The centre hosts various shops, restaurants, cafes and art facilities, as well as a library, and the Sports Hub is popular with residents, as well as the Clyde to Forth cycle route running through Johnstone to Dunoon
Johnstone has links to the motorway, as well as accessible train stations and bus routes to Glasgow, and towards the West coast. The Lynnhurst Hotel is close by, as well as two popular golf courses, Castle Golf Range and Cochrane Castle Golf Club. Elderslie, Howwood, Bridge of Weir and Linwood are also near, with even more amenities and historical sights.
